Terry Griffith

Director
Terry was born in Sydney, Australia and graduated from the University of NSW having completed a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree in 1969 with distinction. Terry’s thesis was based around computer modelling, and he was a very early pioneer of the ICT Industry in Australia.
Terry commenced his working life as a graduate engineer in Sydney and his technical and management skills were soon recognised by his peers and management alike. He was promoted to Level 2 Engineer status within 18 months of commencement, which at the time generally took around 5 years to attain.
Terry was always interested in computing and moved to Canberra and began work as a system analyst/ programmer with the Bureau of Statistics, which at the time was the leading organisation in ICT in the Commonwealth. Terry gained experience in a variety of disciplines in the early to late seventies and set up his own company to pursue a career in the hospitality industry. Over the ensuing twenty years, he managed a number of SMEs with employee numbers ranging from a handful to fifty.
Terry returned to the ICT Industry in the late 80’s working as a contractor to both the ACT and Commonwealth Governments and was a founding member of Random Computing Services with five colleagues including his current partner Jed Johnson. Terry was voted Managing Director by his colleagues because of his likeable nature, business experience and acute financial awareness.
Terry maintains a ‘hands-on’ approach to his role in the company and besides directing the company he is also the Software Development Manager in charge of a small but intelligent team of developers and administrators.
Terry has been instrumental in moving Random Computing forward at a steady pace whilst keeping the company debt free. This has allowed the company to endure the tougher times that have seen similar SMEs fail in the past couple of years. He is looking forward to a bright future for the company and facing new challenges which make the ICT Industry so interesting and rewarding.
On a personal note, Terry has been married to his wife Ann for thirty years and has a son David who represents the ACT in Cricket and is himself a successful contractor in the ICT Industry.
